A WORD FROM THE AUTHOR

Over time I had become only too painfully aware of the awful statistics regarding teen suicide and especially LGBTQ suicide. The numbers are staggering, and even in this modern so-called age of enlightenment it remains the leading cause of death among teenagers.

Ir is totally avoidable. With only a bit more education and knowledge among parents and the general public as well, we could stem this devastating tide that rushes headlong into the abyss of eternity for way too many of our youth and why this is not more widely considered the awful tragedy that indeed it is is mystifying to me.

We are throwing our future generations and indeed our future UNDER THE BUS of discrimination, bigotry, prejudice, and without seemingly regret or remorse. Too many parents still demonize their LGBTQ children and FOR WHAT? Out of their own misguided notions of what IS OR SHOULD BE "normal"? Afraid of what others will say about them or think about them? What about love of your children BEFORE succumbing to the prejudices of others.

So what in truth IS this so-called 'normal'.

NORMAL is whatever is socially acceptable to many, instead of what is the true nature of your child, your neighbors child, your nieces and nephews and your pastors kids and your bosses kids and your grandchildren. What is normal is WHO THEY TRULY ARE.

AND WHO THEY TRULY ARE may or may not jibe with what YOU THINK THEY SHOULD BE, but maybe what or who YOU THINK they should be REALLY DOESN'T MATTER A FUCK. Ir's THEIR life to live NOT YOURS...and if you are the parent, you have a responsibility and an obligation TO LOVE THEM even if you don't agree with the essence of their existence...for GOD created them, and you only were the vehicle HE used to deliver them to earth.

Remember this: when you practice homophobia, you are telling GOD HE GOD IT WRONG. Somehow I don't think that will go over well upstairs where it counts.

I began writing "THE WORLD BEYOND" series to try to bring some sense of normalcy to young lives struggling in the search for their own identities. Being a teenager has never been easy, but it is made excruciatingly painful when haunted by the spectre of being "different" and feeling out of step with everyone else. WITHOUT positive reinforcement, the kind that brings a deep and abiding realization that gay teens are ok and those who say different are simply WRONG, many cannot handle the burden, the shame, and the dis-ease of life having to hide from the truth and often from themselves plunging far too many into depression and suicide.

THIS MUST STOP!

I am endeavoring to writ about a number of angles to the gay 'condition' as it 'afflicts' teens from different perspectives as well as presenting positive LGBTQ role models to provide I trust a sense of 'normal' and to offer hope. If I can keep ONE KID from taking their own life, I will be eternally happy for whatever gift for writing I have to affect the lives of others.

FOR THE RECORD:

There is NOTHING WRONG with being LGBTQ. NOTHING. It is as normal AND GOD CREATED as the opposite. It is about time we stopped killing people with bigotry and offering instead a positive message of healing and hope FOR ALL.

Please remember. GOD created gays. It is the RELIGION OF MEN who views them from their own bewilderingly reprehemsible biases as abnormal.

THEY ARE NOT.

THOSE WHO SAY THEY ARE are the abnormal ones.
